How do new dynamic immigration and reception policies interact? What part does communication play?

Three well known experts, a sociologist (Dominique Wolton), a specialist in geography (Jean Christophe Victor) and a population scientist (Catherine de Wenden) will present their viewpoints to MPs, Mayors, Presidents of local authorities and European politicians, all of whom will participate at the round table meetings.
The discussions will be animated by a leading specialist in communication strategies, Christian Blachas. A welcome cocktail that will give you food for thought for the rest of the summer university.

How do we develop a territory’s image? Trends and techniques


Images of territories have developed, but the way they are perceived has changed, image is now primordial. How should we interpret these tendencies; communications and advertising executives and journalists will speak in turn, and will then join together to debate the force of their arguments.

What impressions are perceived of country, or neo rural life and the methods welcoming of new inhabitants? How do information and communication experts build up a territory’s image? What elements attract journalists? How can they become efficient in spreading communication strategies?

Trends and techniques, it’s up to you to judge!

This year Sweden is the special guest
This country which has immense rural areas and isolated populations has developed a range of strategies and devices to attract new inhabitants. Discover how the Swedish welcome new inhabitants, by listening to their speeches made by supporters of reception policies.
To add to this discussion, countries such as Spain will explain how and why a country that people used to leave has now become a popular country to move to.

How should territories position themselves on European level? What is the importance of messages sent within these new boundaries? Is it right to say that countries are in competition? How to make the most of these social links, and help local inhabitants and incomers to live together, whether they come from cities or from abroad?

During this debate, the way that territories are portrayed and their appeal are foremost. What measures are the professionals taking in developing territories? How de they devise their communication strategies? How to create the necessary conditions for a successful installation? How to conciliate the newcomers’ best interests with those of the native inhabitants? The process of welcoming cannot be concocted overnight; it has to be shaped, adapted and moulded every day. So let’s see what is really happening, with those concerned!
