Welcome to the 2008 Summer University

The organisers open the second European Summer University aimed at welcoming new inhabitants.

They welcome all the participants, and re-cap the Summer University’s main objectives, as defined during the 2006 edition, and present the 2008 Summer University’s aims.

How do new dynamic immigration and reception

policies interact? What part does communication play?

Three well known experts, a sociologist (Dominique Wolton), a specialist in geography (Jean Christophe Victor) and a population scientist (Catherine de Wenden) will present their viewpoints to MPs, Mayors, Presidents of local authorities, and European politicians, all of whom will participate at the round table meetings.

A welcome cocktail that will give you food for thought for the rest of the summer university!

Jean Christophe Victor,and Virgine Raisson Geographers,specialised in geopolitics, authors of the programme “Le dessous des cartes” on ARTE, and heads of research at LEPAC.

Catherine de Wendon, Head of research at the CNRS, lecturer at the CNAM, and Doctor of Political sciences,consultant for OCDE, the European Counciland the European Commission.Specialist in international migrations.

Dominique Wolton, sociologist, in charge of the science, technology and scientific challenges programme, head of the research programme for communication science at the CNRS. He is the author of several books about the mass media, political communication , Europe and the internet.
