Nicholas Sarkozy wants the whole of France to have broadband access by 2025. He has therefore appointed Hervé Maurey as president of a newly formed organisation which has to report on the necessary measures to achieve this objective.
Last December, the report from Juppé/Rocard proposed 4.5 million euros for the development of digital technology.
Many broadband suppliers are not interested in the rural market, and consequently the government may be forced to finance part of this project to provide broadband access for everyone.Francis Fillion,had previously discussed the possibility of broadband by satelite for rural areas .
