Welcome to the third European university for the reception of new inhabitants

Illustration  The aim of the university is to firmly establish an event of European interest on the theme of the reception of new inhabitants. Its purpose is to organise exchanges and debates between regions and countries in Europe which share the same objectives and lead similar policies on this subject.

The University now in its 3rd edition, takes place over three days (usually from Wednesday afternoon to Friday noon). Full conferences and small group workshops are organised and give participants the opportunity to cover a large range of topics.

The convention takes place in the city of Clermont Ferrand, in Auvergne which is part of Massif central. The Auvergne region has made the reception of new inhabitants the most important aspect of its regional development policy.

The policy is implemented by the Agence Régional de Développement des Territoires d’Auvergne (ARDTA). The Agency guides territories with the development of their own reception policies and more generally with their objectives within the territory. Naturally, the Agency is one of the organisers of the European university. The other two organisers are the DIACT and the Collectif Ville campagne.

On behalf of the French state, the DIACT overlooks the implementation and coordination of regional development policies in Massif central.

The Collectif Ville Campagne, as an association boasts a large network and mainly deals  with  the creation and development of policies which aim to encourage the arrival and integration of new inhabitants in predominately rural areas.

The other regions part of Massif central (Bourgogne, Languedoc Rousillon, Limousin, Midi Pyrénées, Rhône Alpes) are also partnering in the project.

The University’s central theme tackles a common problem shared by other European territories. One European country or region is made the guest of honour and the joint European projects are highlighted.

The 2010 edition will reinforce this European connection. Preliminary meetings will take place in different countries in order to encourage their involvement in the event.

On national level, regional preliminary meetings will also be organised with the Collectif Ville Campagne.
